React Native

Opensource Jun 24, 2021

React native is a framework for building cross-platform mobile apps for iOS and Android. A lot of companies prefer to use React Native these days as it cuts down the development and production time significantly. With React Native, you can build native apps for iOS and Android using a single code base written in Javascript. ReactJS, on the other hand, is an open source JavaScript library to create user interfaces. It is built by the Facebook Engineers.

Some of the popular apps that are created using React Native are:

  • Uber Eats
  • Discord (iOS version),
  • Walmart,
  • Wix,
  • Pinaster,
  • and Bloomberg.

Let’s look at the history of  React Native in a Nutshell.

React Native was created as a result of an internal Facebook hackathon in the summer of 2013. In January 2015, Facebook released a preview of React Native and, during a conference in May, the company announced the official launch and release of the framework to the community as an open-source project. Initially, React Native only supported the iOS platform, but in September 2015, it also received support for Android.

  • React Native is used as a cross-platform usage.
  • The framework is based on the most popular language-JavaScript.
  • There is a possibility of integrating React Native with an already existing mobile application.
  • React Native also allows you to write a code fragment for just a given platform.
  • The ability to create your own native code that can communicate with our JavaScript code.
  • With the power of JavaScript, React Native lets you iterate at lightning speed. No more waiting for native builds to finish. Save, see, repeat.

Using React Native, you can develop applications without any waste of time.React Native is designed to integrate the high-speed responsiveness with efficient processing and smooth user experience. As the slogan of React Native says “Learn once, write anywhere”, this can produce successful applications when learned and coded effectively. So, why not give it a try using React Native? Start coding now. Confused where to start? Then join us on the 27th of June for the event where you can learn a plethora of knowledge regarding React Native organised by the FOSS Community of NSBM.
